NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Greenberry

NOTD barry m greenberry gelly nail paint

Happy Easter! The amount of gorgeous Chockie Egg and Bunny themed nails on BlogLovin’ has made me regret not bringing my nail art brushes and more nail polish to my parents house. I want pretty nails! Using the brighter of my two Barry M Gelly Nail paints had to suffice. I could not for the life of me capture this colour! In life it’s more green than these images show, but apparently my camera doesn't like teals. Greenberry isn’t as opaque as Lychee and more streaky, taking three coats.

That’s What She Said: La Roche Posay Effaclar A.I. Targeted Breakout Corrector

la roche posay effaclar ai targeted breakout corrector spot treatment review

A few months ago I ordered a few La Roche Posay Effaclar products, previously reviewed Effaclar Duo and this included. I have never really been loyal to a targeted spot treatment, none I have tried have seemed to make much difference to my skin at all. I only really picked this up because it was on sale from Chemist Direct! My expectations haven’t really been changed through using this to be honest. I tend to dab a smidge onto a blemish with a clean finger after moisturiser both in the morning and at night. If i have a no makeup day, i do reapply throughout. I like how simple La Roche Posay packaging is, but i found this one to be a minor annoyance. Unscrew the lid and product seeps out automatically, making a mess in the lid when I put it back on. It’s become a race to re-screw the lid before i loose too much.

Effaclar A.I. is a creamy consistency and does dry onto the skin rather quickly which is great for someone who doesn't have time to waste. It’s not drying to me and is very gentle, perfect for sensitive skin. That’s not necessarily a plus, personally I like to feel a product working and with this I just don't get that. In all honesty I just cant see what this is doing for me, blemishes still take the same amount of time to disappear than if i wasn't using it. A better combination is my Re-Gen Oil with Effaclar Duo, which I can see working! I’m glad I got this cheaper as I would have been pretty disappointed paying 9 quid and seeing no difference.

You can pick this up in Boots at £9.19 for 15ml.
Have you ever tried Effaclar A.I.? What’s your favourite spot treatment?

I’m at my parents again for the Easter holidays and I only ever bring the Naked Palette with me as far as eye shadows go. This week I’ve felt like abit of colour though, so dug through my drawers to find my Urban Decay Anniversary palette! I hardly tend to use bright UD shades, generally reaching for Inglot or MUG, so it was nice to actually use some of my collection for once. They really do produce some gorgeous colours. A little more fallout than I'm used too, but this just makes me want to get my mitts on the OZ offerings even more. Maybe I can justify it soon eh?

What’s the last Urban Decay combination you wore? What's your favourite Urban Decay eye shadow?

That’s What She Said: Vivo Baked Blush in Rosy

vivo baked blush rosy review swatch budget tesco uk makeup beauty 2

Having featured in many of my FOTD posts recently and getting a mention in my February Favourites, It’s about time I reviewed one of my current top blush picks. Vivo became available in Tesco a while ago, 2011 I believe, a budget makeup line offering a variety of baked products. I picked this up soon after the release but never really used it or looked at the brand again. I don’t think I've really heard much from the brand in general around the blogsphere since their initial release to be honest.

I started using this again after Christmas when trying to shop my stash and have seriously fallen in love with it. The shade is beautiful, a gorgeous deep pink with shimmer, though not too much so your face looks like a glitter bomb went off in it. Comparable to the MAC MSF’s, I seriously think Vivo is so underrated. The packaging is basic, a little bulky (as to be expected with baked products) but sturdy. Rosy has totally knocked Benefit Thrrrob out of my everyday makeup bag! The pigmentation is amazing but not so much that with one swipe you look like a clown and this lasts so much longer on my cheeks than Thrrrob.

The shade looks beautiful on my skintone, I just wish I would have started using it sooner! I am 100% going to pick more of these up next time I'm at Tesco. My beady little eyes are on the Bronzers and eyeshadow/blush palettes. At £4 for 8g of product, its a complete steal. You can pick Vivo up at Tesco or on their website (where there seems to be alot more choice).

Have you ever tried Vivo? What are your favourite products from them?

That’s What She Said: Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation Review

revlon nearly naked foundation review ivory swatches

revlon nearly naked foundation review ivory swatches pale skin

This beauty has been doing the rounds in the blogsphere recently, lusted after by us UK girlies after seeing many a review from over the pond. Now I don’t buy many foundations, especially drugstore ones as most are too dark for my skintone. I’ve been very happy with my go too Illamasqua Skinbase, but I've been looking for something that is alot lighter with added SPF. Needless to say, as soon as I spotted this baby in Superdrug it made its way into my basket.

Marketed as ‘Makeup so refreshingly light it melts in’, Revlon Nearly Naked is a light-medium (buildable) coverage foundation that gives abit more than a tinted moisturiser but keeps things natural, evening skintone without loading a tonne of product onto the face. It’s not greasy but gives a beautiful glow to the skin. Now this won’t cover your blemishes and dark circles, but on me it neutralises mild redness and some older acne scarring. It’s better for your skin to have a light base and use concealer on areas which need it though right?

revlon nearly naked foundation review ivory swatches 2

I’ve found the longevity changes depending on which primer and powder I use, but in general it lasts the whole day before it starts to slide around a little. Unfortunately the colour range isn’t that diverse, only having 10 shades which do lean a little more cool toned. I use the lightest #110 Ivory and it is a pretty good match, a little too dark but it’s not the noticeable. See nearly Naked in action below, no retouching. You can see how my face is slightly darker than my neck, but as I said, it’s not too noticeable in person. I guess you could compare this with Urban Decay’s Naked Skin but for a fraction of the price with added SPF20. I was originally going to get the UD offering, but am glad I saved my pennies and went for this!

IMG_8052editj_thumb[3]

Recently I’ve been mixing Nearly Naked with my Skin Base and have been pretty happy with the results! It’s a little more coverage and a little paler but still lightweight. The only thing I'm not really liking is the lack of pump. It’s not a deal breaker mind you, just a mild annoyance. At £8.99 in Superdrug/Boots (who as you probably know, regularly have offers) who can complain really.

Have you tried Nearly Naked Foundation? What’s your favourite light coverage face product?

Goodbye Google Reader: Ways you can Follow Me!

So as many of us already know by now, google reader is going bye bye. So what does this mean? Well for one GFC will become practically useless. A Cinderella DisneyBound Tale

IMG_9940edit IMG_9948edit

Dress: Romwe ($31.99)
Shoes: Matalan
Necklace: Present from a Friend
Bracelets: Matalan
Nails: Barry M Lychee

In a bid to do more style posts on my blog I’ve started taking more outfit pictures which will show you a little bit of my very mismatched fashion sense. Today’s posts is my Cinderella Disney Bound look for my university FMP (as well as a planned Florida outfit). Now the lighting is a little too bright as I didn't have time to bump down the exposure in camera RAW so imagine a more baby blue colour!

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, DisneyBound is a blog which has become a worldwide inspiration for Disney dressing. Its Cosplaying without the costume. Modern day takes on the characters, parks and more. I’ve become a huge fan of it in the past few months and have been styling many outfits inspired by my favourite corporate giant.

This Cinderella inspired look plays on the well known blue dress she is always shown in on merchandise and in the parks. It’s a light, satin-like material which will be perfect for a hot summer. The shoes are simple flats covered in sparkly silver glitter. They’re not glass slippers, but the next best thing! For jewellery I kept it very simple, blue & silver bangles with a Cinderella's Carriage necklace. To finish, Nude nail polish and an optional taupe/beige handbag from Primark.

IMG_9996edit

This a far-cry from my usual glad-rags but I’m really looking forward to cracking out this outfit while in the parks. I think in the future I am going to add my studded nude waist belt around the middle to give me a more defined waist.

Have you ever DisneyBounded before? What would be your favourite character to DisneyBound?

That’s What She Said: Soap & Glory Hand Food

soap & glory hand food hand cream review

I’ve never really been one for using hand creams. I probably should as my hands can get a little dry between my thumb and index finger but I just haven’t regularly had one on the go. Now I still don’t really, but I’m trying! Soap & Glory Hand Food is a little gem for keeping my mitts alot more hydrated than they were. I don’t carry it around with me, but I do use this as often as I remember too.

I think my favourite thing about it is how quickly it dries. I hate having to wait around for moisturisers and the like to dry, but Hand Food takes literally 30 seconds before I can continue what I was doing. Another thing is that's it’s not greasy in the slightest, providing my hands with some much needed TLC without them slipping and sliding off everything for the next hour. Perfect for on the go and with a divine smell, this baby should be a staple in any woman's handbag! I personally just don’t really want to carry a big tube around with me as I only have a small bag, but If I had the miniature I totally would.

_MG_7886edit

At only £5 for 125ml this will 100% be a repurchase for me and traveling the Atlantic during my Florida summer (the baby version that is).

What's your favourite hand cream?

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Lychee

notd barry m gel nail paint polish lychee nude

Hey dears! I’m abit MIA on the internet this week as the boyfriend has come to visit me! As some of you may or may not know, I go to university 250 miles away from home so I don’t get to see him that often apart from holidays. I thought I would get a little blogging in while he’s in bed though, I have tonnes of images and just need to type up the posts!

Anyway! Earlier this week I picked up 2 of the Barry M Gelly Nail paints. I’ve been eyeing these up for quite a while and finally decided to treat myself. Would you believe Lychee is my first proper nude? I’m totally a “block colour” nail polish kinda girl, preferring it to glitter and all the other types you can get. I have to say I’m pretty impressed though. I’m adoring how this colour applies, wears and looks.

That’s What She Said: Sleek Rose Gold Blush

sleek blush rose gold nars orgasm dupe review

Hello m’dears! Have you ever had a blush you simply adore yet never seem to reach for? This is my relationship with Sleek’s Rose Gold. I was lusting for NARS orgasm for months after trying my dear friend Katie’s, but cannot justify another high end blush. The dupe would have to do. This baby was pretty popular a year ago when I managed to snag one, elusive in the shops and raved about in the blogsphere. Since, the fad has died down but I’ve recently rediscovered it and thought I would let you know my opinion.

The packaging is pretty sturdy and well, sleek :’) I don’t feel like this would break easily if bounced around in my bag all day. A peachy pink with gold shimmer, Rose Gold gives a healthy glow without making it look like you have had way too much fun with glitter.

sleek blush rose gold nars orgasm dupe review1

I really cannot fault Sleek Blushes at all really. They’re a bargainous price at £4.99 for 8g and stick around all day, unlike some high-end bands I have tried in the past. Rose Gold would be perfect for the warmer months and I will very much so be taking this pretty to Florida with me.

Have you ever tried Rose Gold? What's your favourite Sleek blush?

NOTD: Strawberry Accent Nail Art

Shockingly I think this is the first time I have worn nail polish in over a month! After seeing Michael James talk about some nail art brushes he got on ebay for around £2 though, I was influenced! Now i suck at paining my nails really, buy the little strawberry accent is pretty cute and relatively easy. Granted I did screw up the green tip a little, but meh!

Have any of you got any simple nail art suggestions I could try? I can’t wear nail polish this summer as Disney doesn't allow it, so switching it up before I go will have to do.

Hey guys! I’ve had this post chilling since yesterday and don’t even know why I've not posted it yet. Oops! Anyway, here’s a minty/teal look I did the other day! I’m really into this style of eye shadow at the moment, one bright lid colour with some outer neutral blending. Expect to see me rocking more pastels in the next few weeks as SPRING IS COMING! Face of the Week #2 Simple Bright's

_DSC0030edit

This weeks post is a day late cos I’m a slacker, but anyway! I’m hoping to play with more colour this week. I always find myself trying to overcomplicate looks using bright colours, so taking inspiration from my last FOTD (which you can find here) I decided to go with a simple but bright theme.

I do have a separate FOTD and Youtube makeup tutorial of the look above so stay tuned for them!

_DSC0084edit

First up is my trusty Inglot palette. I don’t use this nearly enough even though it’s probably my favourite coloured palette. The application and pigmentation is gorgeous, really need to get my hands on more Inglot. Makeup Forvever Aqua Eyes have started to make a regular appearance on my face recently, but only the black and brown. I think its about time the other three get some love. MAC’s Hang Loose blush has been around in my drawers for ages, but I only use it every now and again. Now I don’t buy from MAC anymore since they started selling in China, but I’m not going to waste me money and throw the few bits I do have. Last up is the Revlon Lip Butters. They are perfect for spring, the shades I own being Raspberry Pie, Lollipop and Cupcake.

What are your favourite bright colours/brands?

That’s What She Said: V05 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo

_MG_7923edit

Hey guys! I have a quick ‘hair care’ review for you today in the form of V05’s Refresh me Quick Dry Shampoo. I don’t really use or buy dry shampoo often, and when I have it it’s saved for those busy weeks when I don’t have much time to wash my hair every other day. Seeing this on offer in Superdrug a few months ago though, I thought I may as well. The only other product of this nature I have tried is Batiste, and I gotta say I like this alot more! I hate having to brush through my hair tonnes to get rid of the white tint with Batiste, but Refresh me Quick only needs a quick sweep. It seems to last me longer as well. It’s perfect for a little pick me up. My hair used to get greasy pretty quickly (not so much these days) so dry shampoos really are great for that little boost in-between washes. There is no icky residue left over with this and it definitely gives my hair a more recently washed look and feel. However, I am not particularly loyal to a brand of Dry Shampoo so probably won’t purchase this unless it’s on offer again. Abit like my deodorants I guess, I just get the best deal.

You can pick this up for £3.59 (200ml) at Boots or Superdrug!
What is your favourite brand of dry shampoo? Or are you like me and not brand loyal?

Real Techniques Stipple Brush Review

real techniques stipple brush

Hey guys! Today I have a long overdue review of the Real Techniques Stipple Brush. I got this quite a while ago, maybe a year or so? Can’t quite remember, but it’s been a member of my brush club for a long time anyway. I think I pretty much used this none stop for the months following its purchase. Not so much recently as I’ve fallen in love with my Sigma Round Top kabuki, but if i ever want a more sheer application of my foundation I always return to this beauty.

The hairs on this are alot shorter to your usual stipple brush but I’ve found they are so much better and really work the product into the skin, being flexible but not so much as to collapse on contact. Due to the smaller head it does take longer to buff product in, but I personally don’t find that too much of a problem, it really easily navigating any smaller areas. I really love the handle designs on all of the whole Real Techniques range bar one thing. I hate that the colours don’t all match! I like everything being even, the same. Hell I’m weirdly terrified of odd socks. Why oh why can’t they all be the same colour, or give us the option to have them the same colour. This won’t stop me from picking more up in the future mind you, it’s just more of an inconvenience. At £11.99 the price is a little steep for those on a budget, but compared to mac it’s amazing value! The sets are even better at £20.99 for 4 brushes. The only reason I haven't gotten a set yet is because I never really have the money at the right times.

real techniques stipple brush 2

I’m really looking forward to trying the buffing brush in the future but for now this has a lovely relationship with my lighter coverage foundations and a firm place in my makeup bag. You can pick this up at Boots or Online.

Have you tried any of the Real Techniques range? What do you think?

FOTD: Simple Buttercup

_DSC0034edit

This morning I had an hour to spare before heading off to university, so I thought I would so something simple yet bright. I’ve come to realize that using colour doesn't mean I have to do a big elaborate cut crease with massive lashes, instead a single bright pop on the lid may look just as good (as well as being a hell of alot quicker to apply). I blended it out a little with Urban Decay’s Buck, added a highlight then done! Quick, easy and very pretty.

In an attempt to rediscover some of my unloved makeup collection, I am going to try and keep up with a new weekly(ish) series. Each week I will show you some everyday products I plan to use for the following week. This weeks selection is pretty packed as I just decided to photograph what was on my face in the above images, although I may not show every single product in future. These posts are going to be a little different to my FOTD looks so the bright makeup will be back people!

Hopefully shopping my stash will assist me on my spending ban so I have more pennies to spend in Florida. Yey!

_DSC0066edit

This weeks selections contain some of my current favourites such as NARS Laguna Bronzer, the Naked Palette and my trusty ELF Mascara, plus some older recently unloved favourites like Mac Mineralized Skin Finish, ELF Gotta Glow and MUFE Smoky Lash. I am trying to finish off my Benefit Porefessional mini and continue testing the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation. I’ve hardly ever used Sleek’s Rose Gold Blush, ELF Copper Eyeliner and Villains Cruella Lipgloss so this week they shall be getting a good trial run. Finally, illamasqua Powder Foundation helps round off my selections.

Keep your eyes peeled next week when I swap out a few of these products for some other unloved pretties. Have you rediscovered any unloved favourites recently?

I don’t usually do posts like this but OMIGOD I am so excited by the new Disney makeup line! Available from the Parks and select items online, the first collection “Wickedly Beautiful” is out now. Priced from $9 to $28 a new collection will be added every season. The current spring collection features 4 princesses and their corresponding villains.

Disney officials say Beautifully Disney is intended for its guests at its theme parks, resorts and Disney.com, with no immediate plans to expand retail distribution beyond its stores.

What are your initial thought of Disney branching out into makeup? I am personally jumping for joy and very excited to get my hands on some of the pieces when I head over to Disney World.
