Autumn/Winter Wishlist 2013

autumn fall trend wishlist 2013

I love creating my own and reading other peoples wish lists at the start of the season! One because I'm really nosey and two because it gives me a good idea of what pieces I want to pick up for my wardrobe or what new makeup collections/trends are around. At the moment I have a bigger focus on fashion as, looking through my wardrobe, i hardly have any winter clothes! It’s got to the point were I've had my current pieces for so long that they’ve gotten old and tatty, not in the cool distressed way but in the horrid scruffy way.

Winter Coat
I seem to have a few coats, but no thick snuggly winter coats. I’m hoping to buy some kind of patterned cute duffle coat in the next few weeks. This one is from a brand called Hell Bunny and I've been eyeing this up for the past year!

Ikea Alex Drawers
After seeing my makeup overflow from my current storage I think it’s time to jump on the Ikea Alex bandwagon. I don't have that much makeup to fill it, but I think the deeper draws at the bottom will be perfect for all my products and nail polish, giving me more much needed space in my room.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
NARS has always been a brand I've been interested in but never actually took the plunge and bought from. After winning a contest for the Pierre Hardy collection, I got to try a blush and love it! This particular product i can see myself getting alot of use out of and have been eyeing up the shade Train Bleu, so this autumn may finally be the time when I splash my cash.

Shirts & Tops
Wanting to up my fashion game, I’ve been eyeing up a few cute shirts which are casual but classier than a t-shirt. This one is the Ivory Roll Sleeve Shirt from Dorothy Perkins and I think I've fell a little bit in love with it. I need to dress more formally for my PGCE placement so this is perfect for getting me used to more dressed up items, though being in art will give me a lot more freedom than other subjects.

Brogues
I remember seeing a pair of black heeled brogues a few years ago and never being able to get them out of my mind. They’ve become somewhat of a trend recently so I’m lusting after them even more, seeing them all over the place and wishfully staring. They look cute with both trousers and skirts and can be used casually for formally. Perfect for my placement!

Burgundy/Dark Coloured Trousers
In winter I live in black skinny jeans. Unfortunately a few of my favourite pairs are now past saving, so it’s time to invest in some new! I hope to venture away from black and experiment with some burgundy and dark green.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick
After trying out a sample sized version of Catfight (seen here) I need more of these in my life. They’re matte, moisturising and last. What more would I ask for? My colours of choice are most definitely dark purples/berries.

Urban Decay Naked Basics
This has been out for a while but I've just never gotten around to purchasing it. I love my Naked palettes and think this travel friendly matte offering needs to get in my life.

What autumn trends are you looking forward to rocking? Have you got anything which I'm eyeing up and what do you think?

A brand I was really looking forward to trying across the pond was Wet n Wild, an affordable drugstore brand with glowing reviews. I’ve heard especially good things about their eye shadows and was looking forward to trying some more out despite my previous bad experience with the Petal Pusher palette. Fortunately I has much better luck with “Blue Had Me At Hello”, an 8 shadow palette filled with gorgeous smoky blues. Their pigmentation was amazing and they applied beautifully, being easily blendable with minimal fallout. I really regret not buying the Comfort Zone palette now I'm back home, but I guess it will have to be a main hit on future trips to the states.

I finished the look with one of Urban Decay’s new Revolution Lipsticks in Catfight. I got a miniature of this from Sephora with my beauty insider points and I’m pretty impressed! The formula is totally matte but not drying in the slightest, as is often my gripe with matte lipsticks. The colour I have, Catfight, is so much brighter in person than shown in these photos, it didn't want to show up properly on my camera. Such amazing pigmentation and they glide effortlessly onto the lips, I can see myself buying one of these when I have some spare cash. Shame and Venom, get in my life!

Tarte Amused Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Review

tarte blush amused review american makeup sephora

The Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushers have been on my USA beauty wish list ever since I first started reading beauty blogs. Raved about by many, these beauties have been lusted after by us beauty fiends in the UK. Not available over here (except on ebay), long has the brand been on my radar. On my recent adventures in America I had to grab one. My biggest regret is that I only managed to get one Tarte product (money was a thing and Disney merchandise was calling okay!)

Amused is described as ‘Bright Pink’, a statement which can be quite intimidating to some. After abit of a swatching session and seeing that it can be blended out I took the plunge. The safe option for me would have been “Dollface”, but I have so many similar colours! I don’t have anything quite like Amused in my collection. Thankfully I am more than overjoyed with my choice. I would say it is more of a medium pink with cooler undertones, perfect for my skin. I can see myself getting alot of use out of this in winter where i prefer darker tones tones to my usual summery light pink/purples. Now it is pretty pigmented so I apply this lightly with an ELF stipple brush and build up the colour gradually. A few dabs will do the trick normally. Amused is soft to the touch and blends beautifully giving a noticeable natural glow to the face.

I wouldn't say the blush lasts for 12 hours, more like 8 before it starts to fade but that's still pretty impressive. Amused has now most definitely took the top spot of my favourite blusher and I will be looking to pick up a few most shades next time i visit the states (or get some spare money to get my American friends to send some over).

Pros: 15 different shades, applies beautifully, bendable, pigmented, unique packaging, long wearing.
Cons: Not available in the UK, a bit on the expensive side.

You can pick this up from Sephora for $26, a bit on the expensive side but I would happily pay this again. Fingers crossed that one day Tarte will heed the calls of the British and make the journey across the pond.

What's your favourite shade of Amazonia Clay Blush? What Tarte product would you most like to try?

Disney Makeup Look: Dumbo

_DSC0560edit[Photograph taken by me]

Having not worn bright makeup for some months, I thought it was about time I played with my palettes and kick started a new series inspired by my favourite thing in the whole world. Disney! I created something bright and fun yet simple and rather wearable which is based upon one of my favourite characters, Dumbo. For the lid colour i used Urban Decays Pistol from the Naked 2 Palette, a gorgeous grey-brown that’s not quite a taupe but still grey enough to double up as Dumbo's skin tone. On the outer crease and inner corner I used Sugarpill’s Buttercupcake and on the lower lash line Sugarpill’s Love+ as a tribute to his adorable collar and hat.

I forgot how much I love wearing bright colours, the rest of that day finding me skipping around the house exclaiming “look at the pretty eyeshadow!” You don’t need to do a whole elaborate look to stand out, sometimes a pop of colour will do the trick.

This is the first of many makeup looks coming soon and possibly (probably) some video tutorials. Hello villains for Halloween. Well I have to have something to entertain me now that I’m not in Florida anymore don’t I? Haha! You might be able to see a little bit in these photos also, but I decorated my bedroom. I’m so happy with it and can’t wait to do a cheeky little post on it once I've added the finishing touches. Disney ones of course.

What’s your favourite Disney character? Who would you like to see a look inspired by?

Summer 2013 Favourites

summer 2013 beauty makeup favourites

As we head into September, summer has finally drawn to a close. Spending the whole summer in Florida, I didn't really wear much makeup as it was simply just too hot! I am going to share with you those beauty bits i relied on and used day in day out, some newbies and some much loved collection staples that managed to prove their worth.

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray
How did I ever cope without this in my life? Not only does it stop the cakey look but it also helped my makeup to last throughout the whole day. It didn't stop me from becoming a bit shiny but hey, that's what I bought blotting sheets for.

PINK Surf Party Body Mist
A random purchase from Victoria Secret, I’ve literally sprayed it every single day this summer. The scent just reminds me of holiday, being described as a fresh mix of water hyacinth and waterfall breeze. Beautiful!

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 50+ Melt-In Cream
My facial sunscreen of choice this summer, I’ve just posted a review of this beauty here! Briefly though, it did a perfect job in protecting my fair skin over in the sunshine state.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling
I’ve raved about this product before here, but the love affair is still on going. This adorned my lips every day off and pretty much had a permanent home in my handbag.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
I’ve fallen even more in love with this concealer after seeing first hand how it performed in the hot weather. It didn't freaking budge! Even when I was a sweaty gross mess! Best concealer ever!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara
Having only had smaller sample versions of this mascara I feel its done pretty well. My first mini tube lasted the whole 3 months i was in America, not smudging or giving me panda eyes as the day progressed. Will 100% be buying the full size.

Some other honourable mentions are Fyrinnae’s Loose Finishing Powder, John Fredia Heat Protection Spray and Sephora Ruby Without a Cause Nailpolish.

What products have you been loving this summer?

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 50+ Melt-In Cream Review

la roche posay anthelios XL suncream sunscreen 50 facial sun protection melt-in cream french skincare

la roche posay anthelios XL suncream sunscreen 50 facial sun protection melt-in cream

Having spent the summer in the beaming sun and 34+ degree heat, my fair skin needed all the protection it could get. Step up La Roche-Posay! I bought this facial sunscreen last year in Paris, but never really needed it until my time in the sunshine state. I was a little apprehensive at first, always being wary of products that could break me out. I’m happy to say, that wasn't the case. The main properties I was looking for was protection (obviously), length of effectiveness and ability to wear well under makeup.

Working outside really put this product to the test! I would apply it in the morning after moisturiser and before a primer, giving it a few minuets to sink into the skin. My face never burnt once! Not even my nose, which is usually the main casualty from the suns rays. It would last the whole day with added water resistance for those days around the pool, saving me worry on whether I needed to top up. It didn’t feel too heavy on my face, and when a primer was used I couldn’t feel it at all. Now this did last under certain makeup products. Foundation, not as long as usual as I did see abit of movement as the day progressed, but below my collection lasting perfection concealer it worked a treat (even with the sweating, ew!)

For £14.50 at Boots, this is a little pricey if you only want it for a short trip. I was using it daily for three months and I still have a quarter of the tube left. I do recommend you pick it up if you’re visiting France though, as it is cheaper in it’s home country.

Pros: Sufficient protection against the sun, Lasts all day, Works well under certain makeup products, Product lasts for a long time, Great for sensitive skin, Water resistant.
Cons: Doesn’t work as well under a full face of makeup (why would you even want that in the heat though!)

Yet again, La Roche-Posay haven’t disappointed! They are fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands. What facial sunscreen do you use? Have you been anywhere nice this summer?
