NOTD: Glitter Goth – MUA Shade 1!

Hey guys! You can all probably tell I have been a little MIA this month, life has been pretty busy. Between juggling work and university I don’t have much time for taking pictures for the blog and when I do lighting sucks. Pretty bad considering I'm doing a uni project on it. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things though, so keep your peepers peeled.

So todays post is all about nails! I’ve been in abit of a “goth” mood lately and last night while waiting for this weeks “Vampire Diaries"” to come online and rummaging through my nail polish for an appropriate dark colour, i came across this little gem. I remember buying this 2 years ago and completely forgot about it. It looks practically black until it catches the light, and the blue sparkles come to life.

I forgot how badass MUA polishes are. This one has been on for 24 hours now without chipping! That's pretty amazing for me to be honest.

What’s your favourite MUA nailpolish shade?

FOTD: Alot of Blackground!

makeup beauty fotd black smoky eye goth punk rocker

Alongside yesterdays outfit post here, as promised here’s some more detail on the makeup. Admittedly I'm a little out of practice with heavy black eye makeup, not having worn it regularly in about 2 years. If you follow me on instagram (or saw my recent beauty bits post) you will see I've started rocking it again though.

This one isn't blended as much as I would usually do, as I was in a rush and didn't have much time haha. I’m always in 2 minds about heavy black makeup. For example I think above doesn't look as good as the look below which I did earlier this week. Oh Life!

When was the last time you did a heavy makeup look?

Jacket: Matalan
Top: Grin - Quiggins (Liverpool)
Trousers: Primark
Shoes: DR Martens
Belt: New Look
Necklace: Restyle

This is a combination I wear quite alot and have done for many many years. Black skinnies, leather jacket and docs. The top (and jacket mind you) isn’t the most flattering on my shape, I usually opt for a longer versions to my bottom, but oh well! And what rocker look would be complete without a tonne of black eye makeup (a close up of which you can see in tomorrows post).

I always seem to go back to this kinda style, especially on “can’t be bothered” days. It’s so easy to throw together, perfect for my currently busy life. Although not the warmest, my jacket has been demoted the the wardrobe in the past few days for a snuggly jumper and coat. We shall meet again, don’t you worry!

P.S. I don’t even know why I seem to have a bulge in these pictures. Y U GEIF ME WILLY JEANS! ahem.

NOTD: Flying Dragon!

china glaze flying dragon neon nail polish notd purple glitter

From the bottle I was expecting great things from this polish, but sadly I was a little disappointed. The application is great, it just dries really weirdly! Quite matte with specs of glitter, until I added a top coat to shine it up a little. The wear time is also pretty pathetic. I applied this before work and a few hours later is was chipped to the high heavens. I hardly even used my hands! My job involves talking! As beautiful as it looked, Flying Dragon just doesn't cut it for me.

A Compilation of Recent Beauty Bits!

Hey guys! I know i said the other month that I wasn’t going to be doing Instagram posts, which I'm generally not, but I do post a few makeup bits on there that I don’t have time to photograph properly. Would anyone be interested in seeing a kind of “round up” post of some of the things I don’t actually post separately about? Beauty, makeup and fashion based of course.

Coat: New Look
Dress: Tesco
Leggings: Primark
Shoes: Primark
Scarf: Band Merchandise (I know i know haha!)
Necklace: Chester Zoo
Bracelet: Paris

An outfit post? What even! Let me explain…
So yes I do primarily focus on beauty here, I'm not a particularly fashionable person but my new photographic project has found me doing some self-portraiture combining it with blogging. It has elements of blogging's effect within the media, one aspect being fashion and beauty. The end result will be a book exploring the world of fashion and beauty blogging, displaying a series of self portraits. Such a daunting task for me who has never done this kind of work before. I’m leaning towards more selective view images such as the one of the shoes seen above.

Now this post is a test shoot I did in my back garden earlier today, ignore the terribad exposure, I’m still experimenting with self timers, focus and poses haha. I’m gonna be doing quite a few of these using different locations, lighting, outfits over the coming weeks and hopefully share my improvement with you all.

What do you think of the project idea? It is as of yet untitled, but if you have any input as to names feel free to let me know!

BIG Announcement!

So the bad news is that I wont be going to IMATS London in June. The good news is that instead I will be living and working in Florida USA!!! Not only that, but my place of work is:

disney8

IM GOING TO WORK IN DISNEYWORLD FLORIDA! It’s seriously not sunk in properly yet. As some of you may or may not know, I've been a Disney fanatic for as long as I can remember so this is seriously a dream come true. The news came on Friday evening while I was in work. I literally nearly started crying and jumped around screaming. Dramatic? No way! Haha.

email

I’ll be working there from June 3rd – August 9th and then hope to travel to New York & LA after my program ends. Can’t believe this is actually happening! Anyway, this post was to just really share the news and let you know about my Disney Blog here where you can keep upto date with me on my Disney journey.

Have you ever been to Walt Disney World Florida?

NOTD: Essie Bahama Mama!

essie bahama mama notd beauty makeup

Yes yes, I jumped on the bandwagon abit but shh, its pretty! This is my first Essie polish and I had high hopes! The application is amazing and the brush perfect giving a great colour payoff. As for wear time, I’d say it’s pretty average. about 2 days without chipping for me (with minor tip wear).

OPI Base Coat
Essie Bahama Mana x2 coats
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Topcoat

Isn’t the colour just so perfect for autumn/winter! I can see this getting so much wear, over Christmas especially. I’m seeing a collaboration with gold glitter in its future.

What’s your favourite Essie polish?

That’s What She Said: Chinovi Cosmetics Review & Swatches!

makeup beauty indie cosmetics chinovi eyeshadow pigment

If you are a regular reader of my blog you may already know of my recent love for indie cosmetics. Brilliant products at affordable prices with the choice to try samples before you purchase full sizes. Perfect. One of the recent additions to my sample library are Chinovi Cosmetics. Hailing from Nevada USA, this relatively new brand instantly caught my eye with their professional website and cute packaging. I found myself at the checkout during a 25% off sale with 9 samples, which arrived pretty darn quickly.

_DSC0012edit[L-R: Alien, Troll, Whisper]_DSC0023edit

_DSC0020edit[L-R: Cool Runnings, Cloud, Inception]_DSC0036edit

_DSC0026edit[L-R: Smoke Out, Punkins, Funhouse]_DSC0054edit

There is a nice selection of shades to choose from, which I find really refreshing. Sometimes with indie companies I get overwhelmed with the masses of colours, I’m too indecisive okay! With this bunch I have to say Punkins, Alien and Smoke Out are my favourites. Pretty pretty!

Overall I am actually really enjoying using what I picked up. The formulas are really pigmented, smooth and amazingly bendable. You can see a recent look I did using Punkins and Smoke out here!

Sample clamshells are priced at $1.25 and full sized jars (with sifter) are $5 from here. Complete bargain if you ask me!

Have you ever tried Chinovi Cosmetics? Which colour would you most like to try?
