That’s What She Said: Lime Crime Magic Dusts!

Heya! This is not going to be so much of a full review, as unfortunately the Lime Crime Magic Dusts are being discontinued so there isn’t too much of a point, but I really wanted to put up a little “show and tell” of swatches though as the colours are stunning! The packaging is pretty damn unique as well.

The 6 colours I picked up in the Space NK sale the other week are Siren, Circus Girl, Medusa, Mischief Managed, Shoe Addict and Dragon Scales.

_DSC0023edit[L-R: Circus Girl, Medusa, Shoe Addict]

I love that the jars come with sifters! Sure it’s a little more difficult to pick up more colour, but there's alot less spillage. They also contain more than i originally thought as well! Paired with the cute unicorn lids, what's not to love?

The top swatches are applied dry, the bottom with BFTE mixing medium.
The pigmentation is pretty damn good, though what i was most happy with is the even application. I have had problems with loose pigments going on patchy when dry in the past, but these are so smooth! My favourite shades so far have to be Circus Girl and Dragon Scales. I have nothing like them in my makeup collection and Dragon Scales in particular has seen alot of use.

You can find a more neutral look I have done using Lime Crime here and a brighter one here. There are still a few of the shades in this range left in the Lime Crime store, so grab them now while you still can. Use code MAGIC40 for 40% off! I hate that I am on a spending ban until Paris as I so badly want more of these! Curses!

What’s your experience with Lime Crime? Do you have a favourite Magic Dust?

EOTD: Lime Crime Neutrals with a Green Pop!

Another Lime Crime look today! I’ve really been loving these magic dusts, especially “Dragon Scales”. It’s so unique yet works really well with a neutral eye! I decided to pair it with medusa and a dash of Mischief Managed on the bottom.

I really think I'm out of the makeup rut I’ve been in over the past few months, and I seriously think it’s down to my excitement over indie pigments. WTB more!

What’s your favourite colour to combine with a neutral eye look for a “pop”?

FOTD: A Lime Crime Sundown!

A similar colour scheme to what I’ve used a fair few times, but damn do I love this look! I had a play with my new Lime Crime Magic Dust’s, and gosh am I glad I grabbed some before they are discontinued. I am slightly hesitant to do a review on them because of that, so let me know if you would like to see one! Even if its just some swatches.

That’s What She Said: KKCenterHk’s Audrey Professional Fashion Black Criss-Cross Eyelashes!

It took me quite a while to master false eyelashes. They used to take me ages to put on, and even then I didn't get it right. Now days though, I love what they do for my look. Making my eyes look bigger and really adding volume to my own spidery sparse lashes.

_DSC0064edit

The Audrey Professional Fashion Black Criss-Cross Eyelashes* come in a box of 10 featuring a gorgeous natural design, which definitely adds volume to the base of the lash. What’s different about these compared to lashes I usually wear, is that they’re shorter at each end of the band and longer in the middle. This gives a really rounded shape perfect for a smoky eye.

_DSC0051edit

The lashes feel a little scratchy in the box, but when worn they really soften up. I’ve been wearing these with more neutral daytime looks, as they are really natural, just adding a little bit of oomph! I’d say they are good for 3-4 uses, being very easy to clean. The website states that the eyelashes are 100% handmade with the middle part of the lash being approximately 0.8mm in length.

_DSC0113edit

_DSC0112edit

The criss-cross design at the base help them blend nicely into your own lash line, merging the two to give a beautiful clean finish.
You can buy these Here for £10.38 (or $16.69)! For 10% off use code “bloodfeatherslipstick” at the checkout.

What is your favourite style of lashes?

FOTD: Panurples!

My first completely indie eye-shadow look yey! I haven't done a look entirely with pigments before, they’re usually blended with pressed shadows. Hopefully I can experiment more with loose colours and improve my skills! I don't think I've done a FOTD for quite a while actually! I’ve not been wearing eye makeup at all, oopsie.

First Impressions: Illamasqua Foundation/Concealer Purchases!

Hey lovelies. As some of you may have seen on twitter, my computer broke! Taking with it a few blog posts worth of photos, hence my lack of posting this week. Boo! It’s gone in for repair today so I really hope the images can be salvaged! In the mean time, I have a few Illamasqua goodies which I got in their 60% sale to share with you. This is going to be more of a first impressions post, with more detailed comparisons of all my Illamasqua foundations upcoming.

_DSC0004

One of the main things I love about Illamasqua foundations is that they cater for us pale folks. Their skin base is freaking fantastic! I’ve been wanting to try some of the other face products for a while, so really couldn't resist a sale.

_DSC0011.

Under-Eye Concealer in 105 (White with pink undertones)
I know i know! This is white! It blends amazingly with my skin base foundation in 02 though, making it perfect for my ghost like skin. I expected this to cake up easily for some reason, but it really doesn't! It’s creamy but kind of merges with the skin. Contains 2.5ml of product. RRP £13. On sale for £5.

_DSC0021.

Powder Foundation in 105 (White with pink undertones)
Now I wouldn’t call this product a foundation by any means. I just use it to powder and set my face makeup. What it does do though, is pale down a darker foundation a little. I’ve been using this since I got it and and pretty happy so far. Contains 10g of product. RRP £21.50. On sale for £10.

_DSC0006.

Cream Foundation in 110 (White with pink undertones)
Firstly I don't have a clue why this number is different to the two above, as I guess they are the same shade really (the powder looks the darkest in the pan out of the three). This is the only one I haven't really tried yet though. Swatched it feels and looks lovely, so when I test it out on my face I will update you! Contains 8g of product. RRP £21.50. On sale for £10.

I doubt many of you will get the same shades as I do. I am a pale ginger kid and embrace it to the max! Illamasqua does have a large range of foundation types and colours though, so I totally recommend checking them out! Especially you guys in the UK, as their sale is still on going!
Have you ever tried an Illamasqua foundation?

Bi-Annual Favourites: Hair and Skin Care!

Hey lovelies. Here's part two of my bi-annual favourites, featuring hair and skin care I’ve been loving over the past 6 months. You can see my favourite makeup products in part 1 here! Now I pretty much stick to the basics when it comes to hair and skin. I just begrudge spending loads of money on things that will only last me up to three months, if that! This isn’t all of my skin and hair care products mind you. These are just the things I always repurchase/will repurchase.

_DSC0004edit

Naked Rescue Intensive Care Shampoo
Recently I decided to do SLS free, Naked of course being the cheapest brad in the market for that! When I first tried this a few months ago, I wasn't too keep as the shampoo doesn't lather up as much. But since then, I’ve gotten used to that and my hair feels so much softer for it! I would really recommend Naked to anyone going SLS free, at under £5 a bottle they last for ages and make my hair feel incredibly soft.

Naked Rescue Intensive Care Conditioner
This is mostly just an extension of the above! The conditioner as well felt different at first, but getting used to it I’m a happy bunny! At this moment it’s been about 24 hours since i washed my hair, and it still feels just as soft!

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub
I’ve repurchased this several times now as It really is my go to facial wash. The exfoliating grains in it aren't too harsh, so it does give my skin a good scrub but remains gentle. Plus the smell is amazing! As you can see by the picture I have just ran out, so next time I’m in town I'll be picking up another one of these!

Simple Anti Blemish Moisturiser
Now I went about 2 months without using this just before I got my Clarisonic, but have recently started reusing and gosh am I glad I did. The difference is really noticeable. I regret not using it for that short time! It’s light, not leaving my skin feeling at all greasy and has really helped with blemishes. I can always rely on simple for quality products at a budget price.

Re-Gen Oil
I actually nicked this off my mum (oops) to see if it would help with acne scarring (little red blotches from past breakouts are a pain to get rid of) and wows! My cheeks are like, blotch free! I don’t get as many breakout now as I used too (except what my Clarisonic caused) and the ones I do get are mostly on my chin, so I can really see the difference this product has made in 3 months. I use this every night under my moisturiser, and now that my skin is starting to behave, I’m counting on it working its magic.

What are your current skin and hair care favourites? Are you a fan of anything I’ve mentioned here?

Bi-Annual Favourites: Makeup!

So this year, instead of doing a monthly favourites, I decided to do Bi-Annual Favourites of the products which have been getting ALOT of use from me over the last 6 months. Now I don't buy a tonne of products anymore. I like to stick with the same thing skin and hair care wise. With makeup, I love to buy it, but recently have hardly worn it. I will wear face makeup maybe 3 times a week, eye makeup more like 3 times a month.

My favourites are going to be split into two separate posts, so it isn't too long. This one is going to be purely about makeup products, the next hair and skin products.

_DSC0025edit

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in Shade 2
The only foundation I have ever found which matches my skin tone! Yey! The finish of this is amazing, and depending on how you apply it, can be a sheer or medium coverage. It’s never made me cakey or greasy and I can always depend on it! A little goes a long way and my 30ml bottle has lasted over 7 months of using this foundation alone.

Urban Decay Naked Palette
Need I say more about this? The ultimate everyday palette with a range of shades to cater for a day time or evening look. My most used shades have to be Virgin (I just hit pan boo!) and Buck. I do have Naked 2, but its just not as good as the original!

NARS Laguna Bronzer
Perfect for contouring. I don’t like to look tan, so that's the only thing i use this for. I have to say though, It will definitely be a repurchase when I run out. It’s not muddy or orange looking, and blends amazingly into my pale skin.

ELF Gotta Glow
This ELF blush is my go too highlighter. Gives a perfect amount of glow without leaving big chunks of glitter on your face.

Benefit Thrrrob Blush
Another product which last lasted through constant use. My boyfriend got me this about a year and a half ago, and its still going strong! Its a perfect cool light pink for pale skin and lasts through the day. A challenge which most blushers fall short of.

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover
A recent purchase but one with an impact. This makes changing nail polish around so much easier. I HATE taking it off with cotton pads, therefore never really wore it. What a change the Bourjois remover made! I can’t wait to take of my chipped polish now in contract to my previous “I’ll do it later” … 3 days later….

ELF Matte Lip Colour in Tea Rose
This colour <3 Seriously, its perfect for my skin tone. The formula is amazing. Moisturising, lasting with great pigmentation for the price. I have another one of these in Coral, but the shade is way too warm for me and looks daft. Hopefully I can pick up a few more shades soon.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush
I’m more of a stipple brush than a buffing brush girl, but the short hairs on the RT stippling brush give me the best of both worlds! It’s not too dense, so it doesn't eat the foundation, but perfectly buffs product into my skin. I’m going to pick up some more Real Techniques brushes soon, so i hope I'm as pleased with them as i am with this one.

ELF Eye Crease Brush
A perfect brush for adding a darker colour to the crease/outer corner. I will use a blending brush to add a medium colour to the crease, then this one to add some depth with a darker shade. Plus its cheap as chips!

Sigma E45 Small Tapered Blending Brush
I know sigma are a pain to get hold of in the UK, but I’m really glad I got this brush! It’s my go too for a neutral eye, namely adding a brown medium shade to my crease area. It’s a little bit scratchy, but it does the job perfectly. I really love the feel of the handle as well!

What have been your favourite makeup products over the past half a year? Any old favourites or new treats?

Clarisonic Mia: Monthly Update #2

It be time for my monthly Carisonic update! I’m going to keep this short and to the point, as to be honest with you, not much has changed from last month.

_DSC0041edit

I’ve reduced my usage from every night to maybe 3 times a week if that, and my skin is starting to look better for it! Not as clear as before I started using the device, but it’s getting there. I’ve still been having trouble with breakouts, but in changing back to my trusty “Simple Anti-Blemish Moisturiser” these have started to disappear over the past 2 weeks. Looking in the mirror now, the only blemishes I can see are left over red scarring spots. It’s looking up!

_DSC0053edit

Cleanser wise, I have started to use “Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion”. Cheap, cheerful and does the job. I’ve been low on money lately as my boyfriend owes me some from our coming Paris trip, so when I get that back I’m planning on buying the full size Liz Earle cleanse and polish, as that really was a delight to use! I am still up for trying some different brands out though, so if you have any recommendations please let me know!

So far I’m not that impressed with the Clarisonic. It just made my skin worse, and I've not seen any improvements from before I started using it. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just not for me? Maybe reducing how often I use it will make a difference. I have seen a reduction of scarring, but I don't know if this or the serum I started using around the same time is the cause of that.
Stick around for next months update, hopefully I should be able to give you a clearer verdict on the Clarisonic Mia.
