Chanel Péridot: I think I'm in love

_DSC0041

Hello nuggets! Today I am going to rave to you about my newest obsession. Yep, it’s Chanel Péridot nail polish! Now I saw this swatched a few months ago, went through a phase of Yes…No…Maybe… and well, its obvious which won! I eagerly awaited the release date, but for some reason only picked it up last week!. I got it with my boots points I had been saving, luckily I got the last one in stock.

The packaging is typical to Chanel, containing 13ml of polish. Now one of the first things I noticed about this was the tiny glitter particles within, and that every time i moved the bottle they seemed to move around and flow. I'm absolutely mesmerized with this! Along with the gorgeous duo-colour, this polish is just beautiful.

When I first went to apply this, in actually squealed in delight. It goes on so smooth! Perfect application! The best I've ever experienced in fact. The colour is stunning, needing only 2 coats and after a few days there is only minor tip wear. I am very impressed with this polish and can honestly say its my absolute favourite polish now. I’ve been showing it off all week to my friends with the tagline, “if this was a man, I'd marry it.” At £17.50, its worth every penny.

Trends: A/W 2011

A rather unusual post from me but I cant help but post about the adorable A/W trends about lately! It’s only in the past few months I’ve been addicted to fashion! I don’t particularly like wearing what is “hot”, I just love the season round-ups in make-up and clothing!

Say hello the the androgynous look, faux fur coats and snakeskin print this winter, as seen rocking the catwalks earlier this year. The 60’s and 40’s are definitely playing a massive part (chic is a keyword here), as is the whole fetish scene (of course Gaga had to be involved!). Colours? Lets try some rich burgendys and muddy neutrals (though that didn't stop some designers from going for it, you know who you are!)

I don’t claim to know much about fashion, hell I want to photograph it, not design it, but its always good to know what’s trendy this season, and how to photograph it! There's so many more looks about than mentioned, but I’m not a fashion writer, so I'll leave that to them!

Make-up trends? Yes yes yes! My favourite part about the whole “fashion” thing! Of course neutrals are warming up the face this year, along side deep plums and bright metallics! A favourite collection of mine is the Chanel Fall Collection. I Lust after Periot Nail Polish and WILL be picking it up next week! The Illusion d’ombres are really testing my will not to buy what i don't need (its NEVER going to work!).

Myself, I’m looking forward to layering up this winter, pulling out the metallic nail polishes (Hell these upcoming MAGNETIC Nailpolshes by 17 are getting in my collection!) and rocking a red lip!

Hey hey hey Spring/Summer 2012 previews!

GOSH Nail Glitter: Grey Moonstone

Many girls are like magpies. Anything glittery or shiny will instantly catch our attention! Which was why I picked up this nail glitter from Superdrug a few weeks ago, the display luring me in. Having been eyeing it up for a week or so, I finally just grabbed it thinking “ah what the heck”. Instead of opting for a bright colour, i just went with a safe bog standard grey-silver.

Now I have never used “nail glitter” as such, before, usually rocking a glittery top coat instead, so this was a first-time for me. The packaging is simple yet effective, the typical GOSH black background with white text, a winner for me who loves simple, professional looking products. I do like when items have an outer packaging, as I feel its more sanitary, one can be sure unwanted fingers haven't been poking and prodding.

Compact and sleek, holding 4ml of product, the small tub has a plastic insert to stop spillages (not that it stopped me! See later in this post) and help control product usage. This sturdy little container wont smash or break if dropped, with no worries of getting glitter all over your makeup bag.

_DSC0104 (2)

The glitter itself is fine, not having any large chunks. Surprisingly it doesn't go all over the place. One would think with glitter, that its going to get EVERYWHERE, but it really doesn't! Its fairly easy to apply, if not a little fiddly. I simple dipped my nails (coated in a layer of Barry M Dusky Mauve) into the pot, used the brush to pat on glitter to the base of my nail, then left to dry.I did maybe 3 nails in succession, before brushing the excess glitter back into the pot. I’m really not sure if a top coat is suppose to be put on top, but I did, which dimmed down the glitter a little unfortunately. My nails felt rough, which I didn't like, but I guess its to be expected.

_DSC0006 (5) _DSC0007 (5)

The glitter started to chip after about 2 days, which is normal for me. I do like this product but I'm not sure its super amazing for me. I may try buying another colour, having another try of this product as I have a massive glitter obsession at the moment. I think I’d probably stick to glittery top coats though in future as I prefer a smooth finish.

While I was taking photos of the pot, I accidently left it open, and being me, knocked it off the table, spilling glitter everywhere! Luckily, I could save most of it, mum hoovering up the rest! Im such a clutz!

YvesSaintLaurent Rouge Volupté Perle: Impetuous Beige

_DSC0039 (5)

As I have mentioned in a previous post, it was my 20th birthday last month! This is one of the goodies I got, from one of my good friends Daniel. Needles to say, I squeaked in delight upon opening the package, having been eyeing up YSL lipsticks for quick some time. Their packaging is probably the main thing which draws me to them, being incredibly luxurious! It feels and looks expensive (which it is of course), exactly one of the features I would want in a high-end lipstick.

_DSC0028 (4) _DSC0038 (4)

Daniel was spot on with the colour, picking out a nude pink, a shade which I would wear everyday, therefore guaranteeing usage. On the first application, I instantly thought “wow!”. It’s so silky, exactly what is says on the packaging, boasting a very moisturising and smooth formula. The smell is exquisite, very sweet and girly. Staying power is probably around 4 hours, but that would depend on various factors (eating, drinking, lip licking). I find this would last through a day of shopping for me without reapplication needed. When the colour does start to fade, it does so gradually and un-patchy, though this may be due to the more sheer colour.

_DSC0065 (2)

I really cant fault this lipstick, other than the high price of £22! For a high-end makeup junkie like me, this is totally worth the price! I am planning on buying a “less-nude” shade in the near future, as I really am craving more!
These can be found in various department stores such as Debenhams and John Lewis.
