That’s What She Said: Victorian Disco Cosmetics House Points Collection!

_DSC0153edit

Hey hey! I have an indie review for you today, I’m really getting into the scene/community at the moment! Victorian Disco are the first of these individualy owned companies I properly tried and ordered from. I was sent some samples back in December when the company launched (see my review here) and I’ve been in love ever since!
I am a promoter for VD, meaning I am sent new products to try every now and again, but this collection I bought with my own money.

_DSC0141edit

The House Points collection contains 4 loose shadows, based around Harry Potter (Duh)! I’m sure it doesn't take a genius to figure out which colour is what.

Godric – A rustic red with a golden sheen, shimmer too!
Helga – Deep dusty gold with a blackish undertone!
Rowena – Bright slate blue with silver sparkles and shimmer!
Salazar – Shamrock green with bright silver shimmer!

_DSC0136edit _DSC0155edit

Each full sized jar contains 2g of product! You can buy a full sized shadow individually for $4.50 or all four for $15! Not bad eh?
Now what I love the most, is the application! Using loose products can be tricky at first, but once you get the hang of them the colour payoff is intense. I’ve swatched these colours both on their own (the left hand swipe) and using a mixing medium (the right hand swipe) so you can see the difference.

_DSC0172edit[L-R: Godric Dry & Wet, Helga Dry & Wet, Rowena Dry & Wet, Salazar Dry & Wet]

It really is amazing what a little bit of mixing medium (or even water) can do. I like being able to run my fingers over a colour and not have any of it rub off, which is what happens when loose shadows are used on their own.
Your can buy Victorian Disco Cosmetics here, I really do recommend checking them out. Their customer service is also second to none! Ashley loves to interact with her customers. My first order ended up getting sent back at customs and she kept me up to date with what was happening every step of the way.

What’s your favourite indie company? Have you tried Victorian Disco? What your favourite product from them?

FOTD: Modern Classic!

Hey lovelies! A classic eye paired with pink brows? Why not! As you can obviously see I dyed my hair bright pink! It’s been blonde for too long. Sure I like blonde, but pink is so much cooler!

For some reason the black looks streaky on these photos, as it didn't in life!
I still need to perfect rocking the bright brows, but I’m pretty pleased with them in general. I do have a bright colour thing going on at the moment!

What do you think of the hair? What's the most daring thing you have done with your brows? I remember I used to shave mine off and draw them on cyber-goth style back in the day! Not a good look for me haha!

NOTD: Kiko 341 – But I Want to be Blue!

OhMiGosh! Nailpolish! I’ve not actually worn it for over a month. Seeing as I got 5 new colours in London, I thought I may as well actually use them!

_DSC0099edit

OPI Base Coat
Kiko 341
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

I could not for the life of me catch this colour as it truly is in life! It’s a gorgeous green/blue/teal shade, but would only turn out blue in the photographs.

_DSC0106edit _DSC0108edit

It’s my first time trying this brand. The polish goes on amazing, smooth and not streaky at all, opaque in 2 coats. Unfortunately this has chipped within 24 hours for me. To be fair, I was doing alot of things with my hands in uni so I can’t really say much about normal wear time. Hopefully it will last longer in the future!

Have you ever tried Kiko Nail Polishes? What was their wear time for you?

Recent Purchases!

Hey lovelies! I have a few of my most recent beauty purchases to show you =] I don’t buy alot of beauty products lately, and never more than two or three things at a time let alone post about them. I’m doing my best to save up for Paris “spend” so have had the “do i really need it” attitude when it comes to buying things. I did go to London yesterday though, picking up some bits and bobs while I was there.

_DSC0076edit

Kiko:
Nail Polish’s in 331 (purple/lavender) and 341 (a blue/green teal, its alot more green in life) - £2.50 each
Eyeliners in 103 (pastel purple) and 104 (baby blue) – £.2.50 each
I hate that these have numbers instead of names! The staff in the store weren't really that friendly too. I was standing there for 5 minuets while the girls on the till chatted.

Sally’s:
China Glaze Nail Polish’s in Flying Dragon and Fairy Dust - £5.49 each
OPI Nail Polish in Ya’ll Come Back Ya Hear? - £3.59

Selfridges:
Illamasqua Skin Base in 02 - £25 –
A repurchase for me! I love love this foundation <3

Cybderdog:
Manic Panic Hairdye in Hot Hot Pink - £10.50
A tad more expansive than I'm used to manic panic being, but I was too impatient to wait any longer to dye my hair haha!

Plus some Pocky added in here from a Japanese shop! Tis Yummy <3

_DSC0086edit

Over the past 2 weeks I’ve also repurchased some shower gels from the body shop (split a 4 for £10 with my friend") and grabbed a loofer!
There's a free Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish + muslin cloth in Red magazine. I’ve been dying to try it, so good deal! I think I'm going to get the full size as I’m loving it!

As well as these bits, I have a Clarisonic which has just arrived at my parents house plus 2 Victorian Disco orders I'm waiting on. Stalking the post man is on!
What beauty bits and bobs have you bought lately?

FOTD: Run Forest Run!

Hey lovelies. I have a look I did a few days ago to share with you today! Pretty forest greens with a flick to add some drama, worn for meeting some friends at the cinema =]

_DSC0016edit_DSC0012edit

My lashes always seem to look so sparse and bleh in photos. I’ve kinda worked out how to use false lashes with my glasses now though, so good times!

Lips

I don't really like taking pictures of my face with the new lens I got. It seems to make my neck and face look really wide! Bad times.

In other news, I would really like some Liz Earle skincare recommendations! I got the free Cleanse and Polish from this months “Red” magazine and I really love it so far. Do you guys have any of their products you think I should try?

PVE Heroes: Illidan Stormrage!

Ohai! I have the first of a new Makeup look series for you today! It is inspired by an online game called World of Warcraft, which I'm sure alot of you will have heard of. I have been playing for over 3 years now, so thought it was about time I incorporated my love for the game with my love for makeup. The theme is going to be Warcraft Bosses, entitled PVE Heroes! Mostly raid bosses but possibly a few dungeon ones thrown in. First up, self proclaimed lord of Outlands Illidan Stormrage, the last boss in Black Temple (BC era).

Green and purple is such a pretty combination, it was just asking for a cut crease! Illidan is pretty badass looking with his Warglaive’s don’t you think? I won’t bore you with the lore, as I'm pretty sure your here for the makeup haha! I shall throw in a picture for those of you who don’t have a clue when I'm chatting on about.

Illidan-Stormrage1

As you can see, I've also dyed my hair lavender! It’s not as vibrant as I want it, but I'm waiting for Special Effects to come back in stock online so this will have to do for now! I love the colour though!

Keep an eye out for more Warcraft inspired looks over the next few weeks. Don’t hesitate to drop me some requests! I have a few planned so far, Algalon the Observer being one i am pretty damn excited about!
Do you play/have heard of WoW? What is your favourite cut-crease combination?

That’s What She Said: Revlon Lip Butters!

Heya m’dears. I know you’ve all probably read a million posts on the Revlon Lip Butters, so I'll keep it short and sweet. A raved about product for months, these lippys hit the UK a few weeks ago much to many peoples delight! About time eh?

_DSC0034edit

Instead of the 20 shades you people in the USA get, we only have 14. A fair amount, but the one i wanted most (Gumdrop) isn’t one of the ones we got! Grrr! No matter, we still have a variety of shades to choose from. I Purchased Cupcake, Lollipop and Raspberry Pie using the current 3 for 2 offer in boots. One of the main annoyances with these is the price of £7.99 each, whereas in the US they are $6. GTFO Revlon.

_DSC0042 edit

[L-R: Raspberry Pie, Lollipop & Cupcake]

The wear time is pretty bad to be honest. These last about an hour, maybe two if I'm lucky. Sure they’re very creamy, moisturising and pigmented, but one of the main things I look for in a lip product is longevity, but these just don't cut it. At the end of the day, these are lipsticks. The darker shades are too pigmented to be a lip balm, which I’m not complaining about.

_DSC0051 edit

[L-R: Raspberry Pie, Lollipop & Cupcake]

I think my favourite shade so far has to be Raspberry Pie. It just looks so pretty and is my most worn. The texture reminds me of the YSL Volupté Perle lipsticks, one of which I reviewed here. Let me know if you would like to see a comparison post =]

_DSC0029 (3)EDITRASBERRYPIE_DSC0030 (3)EDIT_DSC0041 (3)EDITLOLLIPOP

[T-B: Raspberry Pie, Cupcake & Lollipop]

I don’t think I will be buying anymore of these. The wear time coupled with the price just isn’t worth it in my opinion. I’m glad I have them, as I will wear them, it’s just I'd rather try something else next time I buy some lip products.
These can be bought from Boots and Superdrug for £7.99 each.

Have you tried to Revlon Lip Butters? What do you think of them?

Blood. Feathers. Lipstick. Is 1!

Hello darlings! Now just this second, while scrolling back through older posts, I realised I missed my blogs 1 year anniversary! On the 14th March 2011, I posted a crappy webcam pictures of an eye look i did, which spiralled into what I'm doing now. Of course, being me, I completely forgot! Haha!

happy-birthday11-3

It’s amazing to see how much my blog have improved over the year. My writing, images, layout, content, just everything keeps getting better in quality.
I would like to thank all my lovely readers across all platforms for their support & comments. I appreciate every single one of you <3

Thanks for following,

My Travel Makeup: What I Brought Home!

Ohai! Today I thought I would share with you what makeup I’ve brought home to the North with me over the Easter break! To be honest this is abit of a filler post, but I love seeing what others take with them when they travel/go on holiday.
Now my personal challenge was to bring as little as I could. I usually cart tonnes of makeup home when I visit, so this time I stuck to the “essentials”.

_DSC0005 edit

I probably went a bit overboard with the brushes, but ah well! They’re kept in 2 novelty mugs on my desk. The Jack Skellington mug contains face brushes while the Turtle mug contains eye brushes, eyeliners, mascara, long lipsticks.

Brushes
Bdellium #948 Foundation
Bdellium #953 Duet Fibre Foundation
Bdellium #957 Precision Kabuki
Bdellium #955 Finishing
Real Techniques Stippling Brush
Eco Tools Blush Brush
ELF Blush Brush
Eco Tools Eyeshadow Brush
Eco Tools Eyebrow Brush
Sigma E45 Tapered Blending
Sigma E25 Blending
ELF Crease Brush
ELF Blending Brush
Crown C212 Detail Brush
2 Unnamed Crown Brushes

_DSC0016edit

Makeup
ELF Black Liquid Eyeliner
Barry M White Khol
Collection 2000 Glam Crystals in Le Freak
MUFE Smoky Lash
Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Colour in Big Bang
Elf Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose (My HG “Natural” Lip Colour)
ELF Mineral Lipstick in Runway Pink
OCC Lip Tar in Anime
Inglot Face Primer
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 02
Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation in LF 120
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15
MAC MSF Natural in Light
NARS Laguna Bronzer
Benefit Thrrrob Blush
ELF Gotta Glow
MAC Fix+
HD Brow Kit in Foxy
Sugarpill Burning Heart & Sweet Heart Palettes
DUO Eyelash Glue

This may seem like alot, but to me it’s minimal! I like to have choice when putting my makeup on, not just be stuck with the same lip colour every day. Now I do have 3 Urban Decay Palettes which I keep up here (Naked 2, Book of Shadows NYC & 15th Anniversary) so i don't have to bring eye shadows (nor primer or black eyeliner, Hello NYC BOS), but i couldn't resist bringing some Sugarpill.
As far as transport in concerned, I used an old Boudoir Prive box to carry my makeup products, and a GlossyBox to carry my toiletry bits (I have most things such as shower gel already up here).

How much makeup do you usually take when your travel? What are your essentials?
