August Favourites

Where has this month gone at all? It only seems like yesterday that I was looking forward to my birthday, now to be preparing for going back to university! Now this August hasn't been a particularly good one for us in the UK. Wind, rain and night-time cold has got me saying hello to my winter PJ’s and goodbye to my bedroom fan. Anyway, here are my favourites from this month!

E.L.F. Minty Lipgloss: San Diego

This was one of my purchases in my last E.L.F. order, and I freakin’ love it! It tastes amazing! Even the boyfriend cant resist a lick of his lips after a cheeky kiss. The minty taste and scent is great if you’ve been out for lunch and are terrified of passers-by being able to tell you’ve had the garlic bread. The gloss is slightly glittery but not overpowering, adding a beautiful touch of colour to the lips on its own or over a lipstick. I am most definatly grabbing more of these when I next make an order!

GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation: Porcelain

Now for me its pretty hard to find a foundation. I have very pale skin and like a medium – full coverage that's not too sticky and won’t come off with a swipe of the finger. I saw this recommended on a blog, so when my Revlon Colourstay started to run dry, I picked this up from Superdrug. I really love the texture and how smoothly it glides on to my face, giving great coverage but not being heavy at all! Its slightly too dark, but I'm planning on picking up a white foundation of some sort so i can experiment with mixing, as this is just too good to pass over! For £8, I would 100% recommend this!

MAC Studio Finish Concealer: NC 15

I’ve never really used concealer in the past, I always just slapped on some foundation and powder. But, a few months ago I nipped into MAC and got this, thinking I may as well! I never knew what I was missing! This conceals all those pesky blemishes and any redness going on without making the skin look or feel clogged up. Its made wearing a lighter foundation possible when I have a bad skin day, which makes me feel so much fresher. The formula is cream based which i can blend into my liquid foundation using a concealer or foundation brush, depending on the size of the area that needs concealing.

E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner: Black

I do love a good black eyeliner, liquid, cream or pencil! This is the one I've been reaching for the most this month. Less messy than liquid and more precise than pencil, this has been amazing at lining my eyes, tight-lining and creating that popular wing. The pigmentation is superb and the staying power spot on. I can wear this all day without so much as a smudge. Here's to buying more in the range!

V05 Miracle Concentrate

Finally, the only none makeup product in this months favourites. I was a bit sceptical buying this, as I assumed this would just make my hair greasy, being an oil. But after seeing most of the beauty community raving about the likes of Argan Oil and Moroccan Oil, I decided to pick up a cheaper high-street version. Oh my gosh! This is actually a HG hair product for me now. I noticed a difference to the softness of my hair instantly, and that's saying something as my hair is pretty bleach damaged. I bought this, probably about 2 months ago and its only gone down by what you can see in the image, this is with using it every time I wash my hair (every other day). What I wonder now is, are the more expensive brands of similar products any different? Are they more effective? Would it be worth getting one of them when this is finished? Let me know!

Sleek Pout Paints: The Expectation & The Reality!

The newest addition to the highstreet, Sleek have banged this nail on the head with their new Pout Paint Collection, filling a much loved gap in the market. Being known for their stunning quality and affordable prices, this popular brand is churning out amazing products at a super fast rate.

Now these have been anticipated for quite a while in the blogger world, coming in 11 different shades and apparently being comparable to the OCC Lip Tars, but £4 cheaper and available on the high street. As it was, I tottled to Liverpool on the release day to pick up some of these bad boys. In the 3 for 2 offer I picked up Mauve Over, Pin Up and Cloud 9, not my usual colour preference but I wanted a change and the fun of mixing!

I do have to say I am loving these! They're very highly pigmented, giving long lasting colour to the lips without drying them out. It is recomended to apply with a lip brush as they would stain the hands and go everywhere! For the price you get 8ml of product, of which you only need a teeny dot to cover the whole lips, which i'm sure is gonna make them last for a long time!
As for wear time, I wore one for 4 hours easily before it started to fade a little, but even then it stained the lips! I've also had Pin Up on through drinking tea with it not budging at all!

Above I mixed Mauve over with Cloud 9 to create a lovely purple-pink shade! This is just one of many exciting colours you can create with the Pout Paints, and I hope to pick up some more when I next hit the shops!
I totally recomend these, especially for girls who love the bright lip or are still experimenting with a bolder lip colour like me. Spot on there Sleek!

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection Palette

"Opulent and sleek, this gunmetal filigree treasure chest holds 15 NEW (as in never seen!) shades in honor of Urban Decay's big 15. Neurtals shimmer, brights hypnotize and darker hues lend high-impact depth. Lift the shadow tray to reveal a sumptous velver-kined compartment for your jewelry... or whatever else your hiding."
- Taken from the package.

This newest Urban Decay release was sprung on us rather quickly a few weeks back, selling out within a few hours in America. This highly sought after product has been abit of a mystery to us UK addicts though, with no official release date being announced. I've been keeping my eyes peeled as I heard from my good friend Katie that it could make an appearence this week, and so it did! Yesterday while strolling through Debenhams, there it was!

I am in love with this palette! It's so luxurious, from the velvet box to the pattern adouring the lid. Containing 15 brand new shades, I am personally in love with every single one! After having a little play around I have discovered they are each highly pigmented (Tainted less so), have virtually no fallout and blend so easily.

The only downer? The price. At £39 this palette is pretty expensive, compared to the usual £32 of larger palettes (which also usally includes a mini primer and eyeliner). Although UD palettes have seemed to have gone up in price online recently for some reason. I will leave if its worth it to you. I probably wouldn't have gotten this if I had a few other UD palettes, but only having the Naked one so far, I thought it was worth is for me personally. Would you buy this?
I have a FOTD coming up using some of these two of these shades so stay tuned!
