John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner Review

john fredia full repair deep conditioner

After been good for so long, I thought I would treat myself to some new hair care and skin care over the past few weeks. One of these treats was the John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner. I was initially eyeing up a Lee Stafford treatment, but with this brand on 2 for £8, I couldn't pass up a bargain.

The packaging is professional but product can be a pain to get out. I get showers while at university, so scooping some out while trying not to get any water in can be abit of a hassle, but not a huge bother. The smell is very ‘clean’ and a little chemically, again not a huge bother for me but I know some hate that (my housemate has exclaimed many a time how she hates chemically smelling hair products). The formula itself is very thin, the instructions stating to use in place of a normal conditioner, which I ignore and just use as an extra. Now that all those technicalities are out of the way, does this product actually work? Yes and no.

The Full Repair Deep Conditioner claims to repair the look and feel of over styled hair, reducing the risk of breakage, making it become silky and full. From the first use I noticed a huge difference in the texture of my rather damaged but half grown out locks. My hair feels lighter and smoother while looking more shinier than usual, for my natural regrowth at least. After using this every wash for 2 weeks my ends are still as dry as ever and looking very sorry for themselves. Unfortunately though, I don't think any product could salvage them and the offending blonde bits are getting the chop just before I head to Disney. I have noticed that my fine hair looks a lot fuller, always a bonus.

before and after
[A few weeks before – 2 weeks of use]

If you have severely damaged hair, I don't think this product would work for you in all honesty. But if you just need a little pick me up, this will certainly do the trick. Another thing I wish to mention is how long the product lasts. I’ve gone through around a third of the tub in 2 weeks. To be fair though, I guess this isn't meant to be used every wash like i have been doing. 1-2 times a week should make it last twice as long.

Pros: Makes hair smoother, adds volume, reasonably priced – often on offer, hair looks shiny.
Cons: Smells chemically, packaging is abit of a hassle, doesn't work on moderate to severe damage.

I think I would repurchase in the future but not straight away and probably only if it was on offer. I still want to try some other brands before I settle! You can pick John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner up in Boots or Superdrug for £6.29

Debenhams Spring/Summer Collections 2013

debehmans spring summer 2013 event text

With summer finally starting to make an appearance here in the UK (it’s about darn time), we can look towards stocking up on those sunshine appropriate essentials. I was lucky enough to be invited to cover Debenhams Southampton spring/summer 2013 fashion show yesterday along with a couple of other lovely bloggers. After drinks & a chat in the personal shopper suite, we headed out to watch some of the staff showcase 4 main trends, styled by Corrie of Dizzybrunette3. Monochrome & Samba, Riveria, Festival & Holiday and Wedding twirled down the makeshift runway. The stand out piece for me, was a H! By Henry Holland Navy Heart Pinafore Dress which can be seen below. When taking a peek at the rest of the brands spring/summer offerings I also fell in love with this gorgeous Yellow Bow Pinafore Dress, it will be mine!

debenhams spring summer 2013 picks

H! By Henry Holland have always been my favourite Debenhams brand and yet again they do not fail to disappoint. Some other brands showcased were Red Herring, Star by Julien McDonald and and J by Jasper Conran. I had a lovely time meeting the other bloggers and taking part in the raffle to support Marie Curie Cancer Care (unfortunately I didn't win anything, but did get to nom on a few sneaky morsels haha).

Afterwards me and Katie were heading out so I was dressed a little bit like Goth Barbie. I was going for a Villain DisneyBound okay!

Dainty Doll Blush #002 ‘My Girl’ Review

dainty doll my girl blush 002 swatch review

dainty doll my girl blush 002 swatch review haul

Everyone has jumped on the Dainty Doll band wagon since they disappeared from boots and appeared on Fragrance Direct for dirt cheap a couple of months ago. Whether this is the end of the line is yet uncertain, some rumours have been flying around of a re-brand but nothing has, for now, been confirmed. After resisting an online order, I stumbled across a few bits on a discounted makeup market stall in Southampton. I was primarily aiming for Sinful Colors nail polish, but what's 2 quid when I’ve been so good with spending recently right?

The shade I got was #002 My Girl, a gorgeous soft baby pink with just the right amount of shimmer to give that perfect glow to the skin. The packaging is sleek and expensive feeling with a handy little compact mirror. Staying power is brilliant. Some blushers don’t stick around all day for me, but this one does! More than once I have glanced in the mirror after a days university work to find the same glow adorning my cheeks. If anything the colour/effect only gets better over time! The pigmentation is lovely and application smooth, blending easily.

I’m pretty impressed with the quality of My Girl. The original price just really put me off buying anything from Dainty Doll though! I really want to purchase a cream blush and maybe another powder blush in the future, but we’ll see how my funds look in the next few weeks!
Overall I am made up with this bargain purchase. Upto now, this baby will get the honour of being the only blush to accompany me to the states for summer. You can purchase this shade and more online from Fragrance Direct for £2.

Pros: Good pigmentation, Beautiful application, Perfect colour, Sleek & Sturdy packaging, Bargain price (as it is now).
Cons: Original price was expensive, Can mostly only find online.

Have you tried anything from Dainty Doll? What's your favourite blush shade from them?

As one chapter draws to a close another one opens

fmp shoot 5

Hey guys! I just want to let you all know that it will be a little quiet here over the next few weeks! It’s the last leg of my university life! In 3 weeks I will have completed my degree, scary stuff! I’m mad busy doing work, preparing for Florida and attending postgrad interviews back north so I don’t have too much time for blogging at the moment. I have been photographing products and preparing posts though, so bare with me.

I cannot tell what this summer will bring, or if I will be able to manage blogging while working for the mouse. I’m going to sure try though, especially on the fashion front! I’m planning to blog alot about my outfits over there consistently. Thank you for baring with me as one chapter of my life closes and another opens.

I would also like to add, that with this will be coming a blog makeover. I believe i have outgrown my name so will be redesigning after university deadlines into something that is more reflective of me.

Top: Matalan
Jeans: Primark
Belt: Afflecks Palace Manchester
Shoes: Primark
Jacket: H&M

Spring/Summer has officially started to show its face here in the UK (finally)! What better way to acknowledge this than cracking out one of my new “for Florida” tops. Admittedly it’s not quite shorts weather just yet up north, but you won’t believe how happy I am not to have to wear a coat and scarf outside. I know I've presented you with terribad pictures today, but just wait until Florida! Outfit pictures at Micky’s Retreat galore.

Minus the jeans, this attire will probably sum up my summer wardrobe nicely. Jean shorts, tank tops, ballet flats… I’m coming for you! Lets not mention that the above pictured leather jacket isn’t mine but courtesy of my sisters wardrobe…

What clothing item are you most looking forward to rocking this summer?

NOTD: Sinful Colors Out of this World

_DSC0024edit

Trying out one of my recent nail polish purchases left me half disappointed and half enthralled. Out of this World is pretty transparent (I was expecting something a little more opaque) but pretty is exactly what it is! I’ve found myself constantly admiring the beautiful silver gleam in the sunlight. Alot better as an accompaniment, but none the less, I can’t complain for £1 really. The pictures show it as being more sheer that it looks in life, the metallic shine being less apparent.

Women of Rock: Amy Lee Inspired Gothic Makeup Tutorial

gothic eye makeup FOTD amy lee inspired tutorial red and black

Hello there dearies! After taking a week off to organize my university work and spend a few days with my boyfriend/friends I give you my new series! I’ve always been inspired by women in the world of rock music (and I don’t mean pop stars who claim to be rock). It’s primarily a mans world and those ladies who have made it in a rock band influenced me alot throughout my teenage years. This series of tutorials is going to pay homage to those talented women and attempt to recreate some of their most popular makeup looks. So, without further ado, here’s my first tutorial which is inspired by the gorgeous Amy Lee of Evanescence. One of my favourite bands growing up, I always adored her style and stunning eye makeup. Hopefully I have done her justice.
